Locate the property failure within the board
A multilayer board request should identify the affected layer or interface and the required dry-strength or bond measurement. Record the layer furnishes, basis weights, filler, refining and existing additives. A single whole-board strength number can conceal where the limitation originates.
State whether the proposed PAM is intended for a layer stock or another specifically reviewed addition route. Do not assume a polymer qualified in homogeneous handsheets addresses every interface problem. The machine team should define the realistic application and the evidence needed for the product decision.
Use a layer-aware laboratory plan
Prepare representative layer stocks and the relevant sheet or assembly under an agreed procedure. Keep blank and incumbent references and record addition basis, contact, shear, pressing and drying. A favorable single-stock sheet cannot establish a multilayer outcome without the appropriate qualification work.
Preserve the orientation and test location specified by the laboratory method. Record variations in layer mass and preparation rather than normalizing away an uncontrolled difference. Ask the supplier to identify what its sample evidence covers and where machine confirmation is still required.
Confirm bond and process quality together
Read the target conditioned property with formation, drainage, retention and the other board-quality limits. Record the actual failure mode where the selected method provides it. A higher average does not justify unacceptable variation or a shift to another untested weakness.
During a controlled machine trial, retain layer identity, furnish and process settings with the paper samples. Include press and runnability observations where relevant. Do not attribute improvement to the chemical alone when the comparison also changes layer composition, moisture or consolidation conditions.
Define a layer-specific supply approval
Send the accepted layer and interface description, test method, stock chemistry, preparation capacity and trial plan with the RFQ. Request traceable coded candidates and documents. Separate product supply from any broader process redesign or technical service assumed in the proposal.
Approve the code for the demonstrated layer, addition route and board window. Define review after a material furnish or layer-structure change. This keeps the commercial order tied to a real bond or strength decision without promising that one PAM corrects all multilayer-board quality failures.
Connect qualification to the order
Keep the related operating qualification with the purchase record. Further checks include Cationic or Amphoteric PAM Dry-Strength Offers: Compare on the Actual Furnish and Dry-Strength PAM Bids: Compare Sheet Tests on One Conditioning and Basis-Weight Basis.
Request coded material through the papermaking PAM sample and quotation brief. Include paper grade, furnish, additive sequence, preparation limits, acceptance method, quantity and destination. Separate demonstrated results from conditions still awaiting a trial.
